The new Dubai Police Lamborghini Temerario isn’t even the fastest car in their fleet

Dubai Police have a new patrol car: the Lamborghini Temerario, a plug-in hybrid supercar with 907 horsepower, a top speed of 343 km/h and a starting price of $432,490 (in Canada).

But hey, it’s Dubai we’re talking about, so obviously it’s not even the most outrageous car in their garage.

Announced October 14, the Temerario joins what might be the most extravagant police fleet on the planet. Dubai Police already have a Bugatti Veyron, an Aston Martin One-77 and a Lamborghini Revuelto modified by Mansory, among other exotics.

The Veyron, which joined the force more than a decade ago, has a top speed of 407 km/h and earned Dubai Police a Guinness World Record for the fastest police car in service. The Aston Martin One-77 is arguably even more exclusive, with just 77 examples produced worldwide. And earlier this year, the force added that Mansory-modified Revuelto, whose factory hybrid V12 powertrain produces 1,001 horsepower.

So the new Temerario has some serious company.

That’s not to say it’s lacking in performance. Its 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 works alongside three electric motors to produce 920 metric horsepower (907 hp), enough to launch the car from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.7 seconds. The engine also revs to a remarkable 10,000 rpm.

Of course, you’re unlikely to see one of these Lamborghinis chasing down speeders. Dubai Police use their luxury patrol fleet primarily in popular tourist areas, where the cars serve as rolling attractions and give officers an opportunity to interact with residents and visitors.

The new Temerario was introduced in partnership with Lamborghini Abu Dhabi and Dubai, continuing a relationship that has put some extraordinary Italian machinery in police colours.

Dubai Police have been collecting supercars for more than a decade. In 2015, the force released this promo video showing off some of its more “luxurious super patrol cars,” including a Bugatti Veyron, Ferrari FF and McLaren MP4-12C.

For most departments, a Lamborghini with more than 900 horsepower would be the crown jewel of the fleet. But hey, it’s Dubai.
