An afternoon of exotic cars and runway runs turned into an impressive fundraising success as Nan’s Cookies and Autostrada Magazine joined forces for Cookies That Care, an invitation-only charity event that raised $218,740 for two deserving causes.

Held on Sunday, October 4, the event brought together collectors, automotive enthusiasts and supporters for an afternoon of driving, dining and giving back. The property quickly filled with cars from across the community, with everything from a Lamborghini Revuelto to a Ferrari 488, BMW M2 and plenty more lining the grounds before taking turns on the private runway.

The Revuelto was particularly hard to miss, with Lamborghini’s V12 plug-in-hybrid flagship putting its 1,001 hp to good use on the long stretch of pavement.

The setting was every bit as interesting as the cars. The property’s owner, Mike, opened his private collection for guests, with multiple aircraft and a helicopter on display alongside the automotive lineup. Friends, collectors and enthusiasts spent the afternoon catching up, admiring each other’s cars and making runs down the runway. Even Drake stopped by to take in the festivities.

Runway passes took place from 3 to 5 p.m., followed by dinner and an opportunity for guests to learn more about the organizations their contributions would support. All of the $218,740 raised will go directly toward Keaton’s House Children’s Hospice and the Six Nations Community Living Ronatahskats Centre.

Keaton’s House, the Paul Paletta Children’s Hospice, is being developed in Dundas. Plans for the facility include 10 private family suites and offer around-the-clock respite care, symptom management, end-of-life nursing and grief and bereavement support for children and their families.

Community Living Six Nations Ronatahskats, meanwhile, supports people with intellectual and developmental disabilities through community-based programs, employment assistance, residential supports and opportunities for greater independence.

The event came together in less than four weeks, with the support of sponsors, vendors, volunteers and members of the automotive community. Six Nations Police and Six Nations Fire and Emergency also volunteered their time to help ensure the afternoon ran safely.

For everyone involved, the final fundraising total was a remarkable result for an event organized in such a short time. And with nearly $220,000 going directly to two important community organizations, Cookies That Care demonstrated just how much can be accomplished when automotive enthusiasts come together for a good cause.
